Tip #3 — FISH TWICE A WEEK

Oh, so many people don’t eat fish and I hear lots of people say they don’t like it. Fish should not be mushy or fried or overcooked and I think a lot of people had bad childhood experiences with fish that was poorly prepared.

My suggestion, pick a FIRM FISH to try. Like a salmon steak or halibut or a tuna steak. Something that is more difficult to screw up. And my 9 year old will eat ALL OF THESE so there is no reason you shouldn’t. All of these taste great grilled with a squeeze of lemon and either some Mrs Dash or some Montreal Steak Seasoning — whichever you like more!! Do not over cook, the fish should be opaque not dry.

Tip #2 – AN APPLE A DAY

There have been many studies on apples and it does not matter when you have it but the fiber in an apple and the time it takes to eat it will help you feel satisfied and eat less of other things.

So whether you replace a snack like chips or crackers with your apple or whether you eat it instead of a giant coffee drink to avoid the afternoon slump — an apple is a snack you should have every day. Going out for lunch or dinner to a restaurant where you may not be able to have healthy choices — eat the apple before you leave the house.

Adding a new habit every month is an easy way to get to eating healthier this year. It takes about 30 days to make a habit stick so do one each month to end the year being healthier and WEIGHING LESS!!

Tip #1 — Eat Soup Before Dinner
Eating a cup (not a huge bowl) of soup (light soup like vegetable or miso – not gumbo) will help you eat less dinner!!!
